Too Many Doctors

Alberta has a doctor problem. It has too many.

Alberta's College of Physicians & Surgeons counted 12,838 fully registered physicians at the end of 2024. By September 30, 2026, it was 14,661.1 Where will they all park?

It's spreading to family medicine. Alberta's family doctors grew 6.6% in 2025, while BC held the line at 5.4%.2

Every new doctor is one fewer reason to wait. And waiting, comrades, builds character.
